Blue Skies offers week long family beach retreats to bring the hope of Christ to families living through the challenges of pediatric cancer. Our hope is that children who are sick will laugh and play again; that siblings, who often compete with illness, will feel cherished and valued; and, that marriages and families will be renewed and strengthened.
Volunteers at the retreat help care for the families and not only give their time, but also raise financial support to help cover their costs to attend. They serve the families in tangible ways freeing them from the burdens of daily tasks. Families are welcomed in a safe and nurturing environment, where the staff understands their child’s needs, allowing them to relax and engage in a fun-filled retreat and bond with other families on kindred journeys.
We dream of a day when no families suffer from pediatric cancer... until then, there is Blue Skies.
Crossroads Church is partnering with Alaska Missions & Retreats to serve in the town of Soldotna in the Kenai Peninsula. AKMR is melting the agnostic hostility toward Christ, and ministering to broken people who are desperate for hope and peace. The AKMR team work to restore identity to those whom are broken, and present tools for living healthy lifestyles. Earning and sustaining trust is vital to working through sensitive issues in rural Alaska. Through the creation of trustworthy relationships the gospel is shared to bring hope to those who feel hopeless. More than one-in-four Alaskans (27%) describe their religion as atheist, agnostic or nothing in particular. Our team will be doing construction on a local project for the community..
